Scenes From Washington 2006

Thursday, June 1st:

It's midweek, but it's still fairly busy here. This picture was taken about 11:30 Thursday morning:

Here's a birds-eye view from the "lobby" level of VSC advertiser Champion Stamp Company's booth about the same time:

Thursday, June 1st - 2006 Duck Stamp Sale

This was the scene at 10:20 a.m., one hour and 40 minutes before the sheets went on sale:

Way down on the right is the USPS booth where the sales will start at 12 noon. On the immediate right is the Kids Zone youth area. To the left of the man in the maroon shirt is VSC.

The line must be about 3 blocks long — three city blocks — in this picture. It got longer. When it reached the exhibits a few minutes later, Washington 2006 CEO Gordon Morison and Bourse Chairman Ken Martin became concerned.

The line now snakes around the Philatelic Reading Room and is approaching The Virtual Stamp Club Computers In Philately booth ... for the second time.

More Pictures to Come!
