A busy month

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

April will be expensive for those who collect modern U-S stamps: There are four and
maybe five new issues – three of them in four days!

But we’re not talking just four or five 49-cent stamps.

While there’s only one Maya Angelou stamp, there are TWO for the Civil War.

There’s only one stamp in the “From Me To You” greeting-card issue, but to get the full
flavor of it, you’ll really need to buy and keep an entire pane of 20. The stamp itself
is kind of boring, but each sheet is bordered with various decals and stickers that make
the issue interesting.

Then there’s the Gifts of Friendship issue commemorating the exchange between the U-S
and Japan of cherry and dogwood trees a hundred years ago. Each country is issuing two
stamps… and reproducing the other country’s stamp designs in its own currency. But you
can’t just buy the eight stamps. To get the U-S versions, you’ll have to buy 12. To get
the Japanese versions, ten.

A Special Olympics stamp may be issued, too.

March went out like a Lion, with NINE different stamps in 11 days.

So far, early May looks fairly quiet, but still —

Time to save those pennies!
