Nancy B. Zielinski Clark Candidate for TreasurerAs president of Olymphilex 96, the only World Exhibition to endow Washington 2006 with seed money, my experience in dealing in international philately is unique among the candidates. Prior to that I served as the American representative to the FIP Commission for Youth Philately, as a Commissioner for MLADOST `84, JUVALUX `88, DUSSELDORF `90, and CANADA `92. As an internationally accredited judge, 1982-present, I most recently served as a team-leader on the JUVALUX `98 jury. Within the American Philatelic Society I have been honored to serve as a Board member, 1993-97; as a judge, 1982-present; as Chair of Youth Activities Committee, member of the Postal History Committee, and International Relations Committee. Also initiated the Youth Section , Manual of Philatelic Judging, and regularly present judging seminars in Youth and Postal History. This is starting to sound like a brag session, which I find uncomfortable, but it has been pointed out to me that if experience is a major element of a candidate's reason for asking for your vote, it is necessary to give some enumeration of that experience. On a regional and local level, I have been privileged to serve as President in the Rochester Philatelic Association, Rochester NY, and the Athens Philatelic Society, Athens GA. I was a founder of Peach State Stamp Show, Georgia's only WSP show, which I chaired during its apprenticeship period from1991-1996. My current commitments include service as Secretary to the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors, Editor the Georgia Postal History Society's Georgia Post Roads and president of the Georgia Federation of Stamp Clubs. I am currently working on a book cataloging the fancy cancellations used in Maine. An exhibit I am currently assembling is based on the 1996 Olympic Games, though I collect and exhibit postal history as well. Other collecting interests include spray markings, R.F.D.s, postal stationery and precancels. My children are grown, one living close by in Athens GA, the other in Evanston IL. I am married to distinguished postal historian, and recent entrant to the Writer's Unit 30 Hall of Fame, Douglas N. Clark. I have retired from my teaching and minister of music careers. An interest in art has developed into a second career. My community involvement includes President, City of Lexington Historic Preservation Commission (during which the city sought, received and spent a grant to survey historic properties and complete the process of implementing the city's Historic District ); member, Oglethorpe County Library Board (during which I had direct oversight in the building of a new library) and the Athens-Clarke County Regional Library Board (during which the Board oversaw the construction of libraries in four additional counties). Thanks for reading so far! I hope you'll consider casting your vote for Nancy Clark in the Treasurer section of your ballot in the APS election.
