Surprise!

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

Each year, the U-S Postal Service tells us what stamps it will issue the following
year — most of them. There are always a few late additions.

Sometimes it’s because all the details and rights aren’t set yet. Sometimes it’s to
get a little extra publicity for the Postal Service.

The recently announced  Wonder Woman stamps are probably both... and more. The stamps
celebrate the comic book character’s 75th anniversary, and the launch ceremony  will
be at New York Comic-Con. Setting that up at such a popular event probably took some
work, too.

Then there are this year’s Contemporary Christmas stamps. They’ll show Holiday Window
Views — nice designs, but nothing spectacular. The 50th anniversary of the T-V movie
“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” had been widely rumored. Maybe the rights negotiations
fell through.

[“You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.”]

The late additions to the stamp program certainly keep it interesting, because doesn’t
everybody love to get a

[“Surprise!”]
