The Big Show

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

The once-a-decade international stamp collecting show in the U-S is about to open: World
Stamp Show New York 20-16 will run eight days at New York City’s major convention center.

There will be thousands of collectors and hundreds of dealers from all over the world.

Seven different U-S stamp issues will debut at the show, as well as those of some other
countries. Postal agencies also will put their best foot forward, selling their recent
issues. Practically every U-S stamp organization will have booths, exhibits and meetings.

There will be exhibits of incredibly rare and valuable stamp, the world’s most famous
errors and the first stamps, and even Hawaiian stamps from when the Islands were a
kingdom. Some of these rarities will be offered for sale at the six major auctions.

What does this mean for stamp collectors who WON’T be at the show? Many new issues in
their post offices, a lack of other stamp shows this time of year in the Northeastern
U-S, and possibly slower response time on mail orders.
