Left and right hands.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

It’s kind of fun sometimes watching the stamps people at the U-S Postal Service try to
keep a secret.

Stamp Services, as the department is called, will hold back information, hoping to get
maximum publicity. But the Postal Service is such a big operation one hand doesn’t know
what the other is doing. Even within Stamp Services sometimes you have to wonder if one
hand even knows there IS another hand.

A couple of recent examples. The names of each of the five Celebrity Chefs were going to
be revealed one at a time. Then all five names were on the store section of the website.

We were told an announcement was coming for a blockbuster issue. We’re still awaiting the
announcement, but the Batman stamp is on the events calendar on the Postal Service’s own
website.

The agency has sites all over the Internet, including Facebook and eBay. There’s a
bi-weekly newsletter for employees that anyone can access, and catalogues and flyers that
are sent to collectors and post offices. Practically all of them have leaked information
at one time or another.

So have the interest groups involved with an issue.

It’s a lost cause.
