No Rules

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

[sound — knock, knock, knock “Open up, it’s the stamp collecting police!”]

That’s something you WON’T hear as you put together your stamp collection. There’s no
governing body to tell you what you must collect, how you must organize your collection
or how much you must spend.

If you decide you only want to collect stamps depicting left-handed people, that’s your
call. Just the stamps issued in Georgia? Fine. With six-cent denominations? OK.

If you want to enter a competition, then, yes, there ARE rules, as there are in most
competitions. If you want to win the competition, then you do try to follow the
guidelines.

And if you later want to sell your collection, following certain criteria WILL either
add to its value or detract from it.

Sure, there are accepted practices, such as not stapling your stamps into the album.
But if you choose to ignore them, we may wince, we may cringe, but, hey, they’re your
stamps.
