Their league, their football

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

It's baseball season, but Canada Post is looking ahead to football.

As the Canadian Football League season gets under way, the postal agency is marking the
hundredth anniversary of the championship Grey Cup game... with rolls of stamps featuring
each team's logos.

Each roll has one design. The stamps pay the letter rate, and they're intended for use in
the mail.

There are just eight teams in the Canadian Football League, however. That means a
collector who just absolutely has to have one of every stamp only needs eight stamps, not
the 20 or 30 for a set honoring a U-S pro sports league.

"But wait, there's more!" as they say on late night T-V: Canada Post is also issuing a
mini-sheet with all eight designs…. And later this summer, Canadians will see more stamps
showing players and scenes from famous games, undoubtedly aimed at collectors rather than
mailers.

Canadian football is played by different rules – but producing stamps for collectors,
apparently, is international.
