Great Scott

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries

In the U-S, the dominant stamp catalogue is the Scott series, published in six volume and
several specialized books. But a complete set can set you back hundreds of dollars — and
they're awfully heavy to lug around.

That's about to change.

"Sometime this year our plan is to provide to our customers an iPad and we also think an
iPhone-capable application." :11

Charles Snee is the new editor of the Scott stamp catalogues.

"We will see the Scott catalogue transition from a primarily print product to primarily a
digital product." :09

Scott produced a digital version several years ago that was basically a P-D-F file. Snee
says this time Scott is moving toward being fully digital and interactive.

"We on the editorial staff will be engaged on a daily basis in updating values, adding new
editorial content, and so on." :08

THAT will take several years. But this summer, some tech-savvy collectors will be able to
pick-and-choose.

"If you want just these three countries, you'll pay this much for those three
countries." :06

Just THAT feature is something collectors have been asking for.
