Road trip!

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

There are just a few stamp collecting shows I MUST go to every year...and two of them
always seem to come on consecutive weekends.

One, the convention for my personal stamp specialty, first day covers, is in Boxborough,
Massachusetts, this year, near Lexington and Concord. The other, for the "umbrella"
organization for ALL U-S stamp collectors, the American Philatelic Society, is in
Pittsburgh.

It just so happens that if you map a route between Boxborough and Pittsburgh, you
practically go past my house. I figure I'll have about 24 hours at home between shows
to do laundry and pick up the mail.

While I'm at these shows, I'll attend meetings, seminars and banquets and look at and
buy stamps and first day covers, which are envelopes postmarked with the date a stamp
first goes on sale.

But I think what I like most about going to shows is talking to my stamp collecting
friends....about jobs, the economy, our kids -- and sometimes stamps!

I'm even going to visit a few tourist attractions.
