The four Disney Magic stamps issued recently show the title characters -- and their 
friends -- from Aladdin, Peter Pan, and Dumbo, as well as Mickey Mouse as The Sorcerer's 
Apprentice from "Fantasia." 

The Postal Service decided to extend the Disney series to a fourth year, says Dave Failor, 
after its earlier stamps passed an important test.

"Do our post offices reorder those stamps when they run out? And they really do for the 
Disney stamps."

Besides, says Failor, the Magic set provided a chance to get a Disney character customers 
had requested onto a stamp.

"People would come up to us and say, 'Gee, when is Tinker Bell going to be on a stamp?' or 
'How come you don't have Tinker Bell on any of the stamps?' So it was one of those that, 
when we decided to do a fourth year, it's like, 'Okay, we've got to figure out a way to get 
Tinker Bell in there, too.'"

<Alternate ending, recorded but not used: Extended once, there are no plans for a fifth 
Disney set in next year's stamp program, at least as was announced recently, but, hey, you 
never know.>

Last year, Failor told me there were no plans to extend the Disney series again, but guess 
what? More Disney stamps are coming next year.
