The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

[Harry Potter theme - establish and under]

Star Wars was honored with stamps by the U-S, The Lord of the Rings films by New Zealand,
so it's not really that surprising that Britain is issuing Harry Potter stamps this summer,
coinciding with the release of the final book in the series. In fact, the seven stamps show
the covers of the British editions of the books, not scenes from the movies.

And that's a significant difference between the Harry Potter stamps France issued in March
and Britain's. In fact, in its press release announcing the stamps, the British postal
service notes that the books have -- quote -- "made a phenomenal impact on our reading
habits."

Similarly, when Britain issues stamps early next year for James Bond, they will commemorate
the NOVELS by Ian Fleming, not the movies.

In addition to the seven stamps showing the book covers, there will be a special sheet
showing the rests of Hogwarts and each of the "houses" in the school. From the design that's
been released, it seemed rather bland.

By the way, the title of the first book was changed for the American edition. On these stamps,
it will be its original "PHILOSOPHER'S Stone."

but none of the stamps shows an owl -- which is the way mail is carried in Harry Potter's
world.
