In the course of my career, I have covered in person a World Series and playoffs, several Preakness horse races, pro football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer, college football and basketball, and events at the White House and Capitol Hill. From newsrooms, I have covered many elections, innumerable natural disasters and crashes, politics (unnatural disasters?), and all sorts of other news.

I have worked on staff for CBS, NBC, and National Public Radio and freelanced for those three plus ABC, UPI, UPI Audio, AP Radio, and a number of major-market radio stations.
